GLORIA - A TRIPLE BILL
Presented as part of Aotearoa New Zealand Festival 2026, Gloria - A Triple Bill brings together NZDC and Co3 Contemporary Dance Australia in a landmark trans-Tasman collaboration.
At its centre is the return of Douglas Wright’s iconic Gloria, one of the most celebrated works in Aotearoa’s contemporary dance history. First performed in 1990, Gloria is set to Vivaldi’s radiant score, performed live by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and Voices New Zealand under the baton of Dr Joseph Nolan. The work bursts with joy and exaltation, a soaring tribute to life and human resilience.
Alongside Gloria, the programme features two new commissions: A Moving Portrait by Co3 Artistic Director Raewyn Hill, an intimate meditation on ageing, fragility and grace, and Lament by NZDC Artistic Director Moss Te Ururangi Patterson, a powerful exploration of memory and endurance. Together, these works weave an intergenerational conversation across Aotearoa and Australia, celebrating legacy while speaking to the present moment.
“Combining artistry and stamina, New Zealand choreographer Douglas Wright’s masterpiece of contemporary dance is made all the more magical by a glorious live musical accompaniment.” – Limelight
