JP Bolton

New Zealand born, and having studied acting, singing and dance from an early age, JP’s first job in the entertainment industry was as a prize model on the Kiwi version of the game show, Blind Date at the age of 18. Moving to Australia to further his study, JP graduated from WAAPA (the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts) in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre.

Over the eight years that followed JP worked as a performer in theatre, opera, musical theatre and television from 1994–2001. In musical theatre, JP worked with some of the world’s finest exponents of the art form including Ann Reinking in the Original Australian Revival Cast of Chicago, Susan Stroman and Stephen Mear in the Original Australian Cast of Crazy For You and as a Tap Brother, touring Australia, New Zealand and Japan in David Atkin's Hot Shoe Shuffle. He played Demetrius in Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Sydney’s Botanical Gardens, appeared as a dancer in the World Premiere of Lindy Hume’s Carmen and played various guest roles in television shows such as Big Sky, Police Rescue, Blue Heelers, The Secret Life of Us and Water Rats.

With over 30 years’ experience in the entertainment business, JP has worked at the highest level across a number of disciplines and in a variety of roles in the arts in Australasia, from publicity to event management, account direction, as an educator, media trainer, writer, copywriter, a performer on stage and screen and as a producer.
