Rona Ngahuia Osbourne
Set & Costume Designer

Rona Ngahuia Osborne grew up in South Hokianga in the Far North of Aotearoa.
Rona has a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from the Elam School of Fine Arts. Her work primarily references cultural and historical themes in Aotearoa, combining strong Māori imagery with colonial symbols, and spans a range of mediums, including costume, paint, photography, and audio-visual installation. Rona is also well known for her textile work under the moniker Native Agent.
Rona regularly collaborates with her partner Dan Mace to create immersive AV installations bringing together costume, art direction, sound design and digital processing. In recent years Rona has worked on projects designing set and costumes for dance. She has collaborated with dancer Louise Potiki Bryant, Atamira Dance Company and The New Zealand Dance Company (NZDC).

2019 marked Rona’s first collaboration with NZDC as Set and Costume designer for Sean MacDonald’s Matariki for Tamariki followed by This Fragile Planet in 2020.
