Nicci McEwen
Tutor Ballet

Nicci began her ballet training in South Africa where she lived her early years. At the age of 15 she was offered a scholarship to attend the National Ballet School of Canada where she trained and graduated. Upon graduation she was offered a second scholarship, to attend at the Royal Ballet Upper School in London, where she then trained further and graduated. By 19 years of age, she won a contract to dance with the Scottish Ballet where she stayed and danced for 10 years performing world wide.

Nicci danced all the Principal roles, including Aurora, Odette/Odile, Swanhilda, Giselle, Lilac fairy, Principal Sylphs in La Syphide and Les Sylphides, Juliet, Principal in Balanchine’s Concerto Barrocco, Cinderella, La Fille mal gardée and various other new works. She migrated to NZ with her husband and 3 children in 2013 and is currently the ballet teacher for NZDC, HOD for senior vocational ballet at Auckland Academy of Dance and has her own Friday school, based at Wellesley studios, for exceptionally talented students.
