After dancing at Southern Ballet in Christchurch for five years, Geordan went on to study at the New Zealand School of Dance in Wellington in 1990. After graduating from the three year Dance Diploma he worked as a freelance dancer dancing in New Zealand, Japan and Australia. Geordan then gained employment as a full time dancer with the Royal New Zealand Ballet where he toured both nationally and internationally and had the opportunity to work with world class contemporary and ballet choreographers during his 13 year career with the company. Also during his time at the company Geordan was offered a scholarship to attend the Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts, where he studied Modern Traditions with Milton Myers and Broadway Evolutions with Chet Walker.

On retiring from the Royal New Zealand Ballet Company, Geordan went on to the University of Auckland where he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Creative and Performing Arts in Dance Studies and a Master of Creative and Performing Arts in Dance Studies. On completion of his Masters (MCPA) with the University of Auckland, he continued studies in Dance Education and completed a Graduate Diploma in Teaching at The University of Auckland.

Geordan was employed at Pakuranga College in sole charge of dance and has now been Head of Dance at Saint Kentigern College for 8 years.

Geordan has also taught for Ballet Preljocaj, The New Zealand School of Dance, The University of Auckland, Mount Eden Ballet Academy, East Auckland Performing Arts School, Philippa Campbell School of Ballet and several other studios. He has taught for the RAD Wellington Summer School, Hawkes Bay Dance Summer School, Invercargill Summer School and was an examiner for RAD Solo Seal.

Geordan was a board member for the New Zealand Dance Festival Trust 2013-2017, is on the DANZ Editorial Committee and has been a board member for the New Zealand Dance Archives from 2020
