CATERINA MORENO
PERFORMER & TUTOR

Born and raised under Wellington stars, Caterina (Cat) Moreno carries the heritage of her family’s southern Italian roots in Massa Lubrense. She graduated from the New Zealand School of Dance in 2023, where she performed works by renowned choreographers from Aotearoa and abroad.

Cat’s professional career began at the Wellington Fringe Festival with L!CK Dance Theatre in Lick Off My Tears, Death is Also Dying - a work that earned major awards and recognition. Her training has also taken her overseas, with intensives across Australia and Europe.

Cat is passionate about art as a way of anchoring communities and telling stories. Her love language is sharing art, and her greatest joy is the connection that dance creates. She sees dancing as a way to understand the world we live in, and hopes for a future where dance can touch everyone’s lives, big or small.

Since joining the Company in 2025, Caterina has performed in national tours of new works by Moss Te Ururangi Patterson, including 100 Winds and Holding Ground, as well as Home, Land and Sea, a major collaboration between NZDC and the Royal New Zealand Ballet. She appeared in Whetū, the 2025 Tāmaki Tour for schools, which included Tāwhiri’s Ring choreographed by ‘Isope ‘Akau’ola and A Murmuration by Bianca Hyslop. She has also performed in the World of WearableArts Show, choreographed by Kayla Paige, Holly Newsome, Tor Columbus and Jeremy Beck.

Cat is also a tutor with the Company, and now in her second year with NZDC, she’s excited to see what unfolds.
