Sharon van Gulik

Sharon is a leading brand, communications and marketing consultant with over 30 years’ experience driving strategic growth, reputation, brand experience, marketing and public relations for leading corporate, not-for-profit, FMCG, government, sport and educational organisations. Her experience extends from consulting to senior executive positions in the private sector, and both local and national government - including time as a ministerial private secretary.

Formerly the Head of Brand and Marketing Communications at Westpac New Zealand, Sharon is currently Director of her own consulting company SvG Limited; a partner in strategic communications counsel Boag Allan SvG, and media training partnership PlunketSvG; and works part-time as Commercial Director for the New Zealand Olympic Committee (NZOC).

In her current roles, Sharon leads a small team focused on securing the commercial partnerships necessary to send and support teams to Olympic and Commonwealth Games, as well as providing overarching brand and marketing support for Games’ campaigns.

Sharon’s current clients include leading New Zealand tourism companies, government agencies, law firms and not-for-profit organisations requiring commercial, strategic communications, media and stakeholder relations advisory.

In a governance capacity, Sharon is currently Chair of the New Zealand Dance Company, and a Director of the Netherlands Foundation. When not at her day job, she can be found sailing somewhere warm or riding around New Zealand on her Harley Davidson.
