Jane Leighs

After the Christchurch earthquakes in 2011, Jane saw the opportunity for the arts to transform, strengthen and bring joy to communities. She has been heavily involved in not-for-profit arts governance since that time.

Jane has worked in marketing, audience development, PR and brand management in the public, private and charitable sectors for over twenty years. During that period she has supported her husband in the development of one of New Zealand’s leading construction companies. Through this company and personally they have supported a wide range of arts initiatives.

Jane has tertiary qualifications and training in marketing, journalism, classics and archaeology. An advocate for education and personal development, and with two teenage daughters who dance and perform, Jane strongly supports The New Zealand Dance Company’s work which engages with youth.
