Greg Innes

Greg joins The New Zealand Dance Company following an extensive career in the performing arts, entertainment and events sector in Aotearoa and Australia.

Greg is best known for his 16 years between 1994 and 2010, when he lead THE EDGE as it transitioned from its uncertain and controversial gestation as the Aotea Centre, through its reimagining and emergence as an internationally recognised place of excellence in the performing arts, entertainment and conventions. During this period, management of the Aotea Centre, The Civic, the Auckland Town Hall and Aotea Square was integrated into THE EDGE, which has played a pivotal role, in collaboration with others, in ensuring Auckland’s future as a “must do” destination for performing arts, entertainment and conventions in the Asian-Pacific region.

“I feel incredibly fortunate to have had some memorable experiences, opportunities and encounters over my time in the sector. The performing arts and entertainment sector is filled with amazing people and personalities, and the creativity and energy of these people is inspiring and infectious. I’ve been privileged to be involved in some extraordinary developments – the decisions around restoring and redeveloping the Civic Theatre, developing and growing our access and education programmes, for which THE EDGE (and now Auckland Live) came to be widely acknowledged, and our extraordinary engagement with the major New Zealand performing arts companies which has underpinned a continuing environment of creative partnerships that both reflects the diversity of New Zealand’s largest city, and its status as a city of the wider world. Returning to the performing arts after the past few years as a promoter and consultant is really exciting. I’m loving engaging again with friends and colleagues old and new, and the opportunity to work with Shona and her exceptional team at The New Zealand Dance Company is quite special." - Greg
