Emma Broad

Born and raised in Wellington, Emma moved to Auckland to pursue her passion for dance performance and arts administration in 2016. In 2018, Emma graduated from The University of Auckland’s, Bachelor of Dance Studies programme. Throughout her time studying, she worked with key New Zealand dance practitioners Sarah Foster-Sproull, Sarah Knox, Malia Johnston and Rose Philpott, and simultaneously developed valuable administration skills. In 2019, Emma completed her Honours year at the University of Auckland. While completing her dissertation she also taught dance at Dulwich College Seoul, South Korea for 6 months. Emma’s achievement in dance studies have led to her being awarded the Frances Irwin Hunt Arts Scholarship and the Gavin and Susan Walker Postgraduate Scholarship in Dance Studies.

In 2018, Emma had her first encounter working with the New Zealand Dance Company as a Marketing and Events Intern and went on to became NZDC Dance Education Assistant in 2019. Her current position as NZDC Administrator allows her to keep developing and growing her administration skills and she is excited to see where this could take her in the future.

Emma greatly enjoys performing, choreographing and teaching in her spare time.
