Ngaere’s whakapapa is to Te Arawa and Ngāti Kahungunu. Raised in Pōneke, she trained at the New Zealand School of Dance, graduating in 2018. Whilst studying, Ngaere performed with Atamira Dance Company in the 2017 Kia Mau Festival and represented the school as a guest artist in Tahiti at the Académie de Danse Annie FAYN fifth International Dance Festival.
During her studies, Ngaere worked with many influential choreographers including James O’Hara, Damien Jalet, Lou Sih-wei , Sarah Foster-Sproull, Malia Johnston, Gabby Thomas, Taane Mete, Taiaroa Royal, Victoria (Tor) Colombus and Tanemahuta Gray. Ngaere joined The New Zealand Dance Company (NZDC) in a full-time capacity in 2019 performing in the national tour of Kiss The Sky; the Matariki for Tamariki premiere; an international tour to Canada and This Fragile Planet in Auckland and Hamilton. 2021 has seen Ngaere perform with Ōkāreka Dance Company in their recent Auckland season of Mana Wahine.
