Aleeya McFadyen-Rew

Aleeya is an emerging contemporary dance artist, born in Thailand and raised in Wellington, New Zealand. She discovered a love for movement and performing at a very young age and continued her passion, training at Chilton Ballet Academy during her last years of Secondary school. From then she moved into Full-time training at The New Zealand School of Dance, graduating in December 2024.
During her Studies, along with the amazing faculty at NZSD, Aleeya has been fortunate to work with and experience many amazing dance artists and organisations including New Zealand Dance Company, Movement of the Human, Malia Johnston, Dancenorth, Footnote, Sydney Dance Company, Micheal Parmenter, Felix Sampson, Kit Reily, and Zoe Dunwoodie. In her second year, she was grateful to be awarded the Katrina Todd Scholarship for her final year of study in 2024.
At the beginning of 2024, Aleeya performed in Malia Johnston’s production of Belle - A Performance of Air for the Aoteroa Arts Festival and is excited to be performing in Ross McCormack’s acclaimed work Matter as part of The New Zealand Dance Company’s double bill Rua, programmed for Tempo Dance Festival 2024.
